Photo courtesy of Matt TurnerTop Note is the creation of Cate and Nick Foskett who have thrown themselves into viticulture and winemaking with the same enthusiasm, passion and high standards that have been hallmarks of their respective careers in opera and IT. For about a year they searched for a property in the countryside which combined forests and a view with room for a vegetable garden, an orchard and some vines so that Nick could achieve a long held ambition of making some wine.
The stunning vineyard on Peters Creek Road, opposite Kuitpo forest, met all these expectations and more. The 58 acres and 7 varieties of beautifully planted vines may have been more than either of them had initially wanted, but the sheer beauty of the setting and the glorious countryside around them soon combined to make them throw caution to the winds and embark on a career as vignerons at a time when the surrounding wine industry was in turmoil.
